Dean Road Chapel is a registered charity set up in 2013 with the aim of restoring the chapel in Dean Road cemetery, Scarborough, and bringing it back into use for the benefit of the local community.
In January 2016, following consultation with the public, we submitted our revised business plan to the Scarborough Borough Council Community Asset Transfer Panel, which recommended transfer of the freehold of the chapel to Dean Road Chapel Ltd.
Our revised business plan includes a community cafe, bookshop and gallery, with extensive opportunities for people to engage with the heritage in the chapel and the wider cemetery.
The Heritage Lottery Fund awarded over £60,000 to enable us to get surveys done and architect’s plans drawn up. We will be going back to the lottery for funding to complete the project as soon as we have raised the £50,000 match funding needed. Your donations will help us achieve this.
